Sitting at 2,100 masl, Finca Hoyo Rico is a true family endeavor, with everyone contributing to the daily tasks of harvesting, processing, and drying the coffee. Arnulfo, inspired by his brother, started growing coffee in 2020, harvesting his first crop in 2022, and has since been cultivating specialty coffee with his wife, Martha, and their family. They transformed a simple piece of land in the mountains of Anza, just east of Urrao, into a thriving coffee farm growing excellent Chiroso and Gesha.
This Chiroso lot was fermented in open tanks for 3 to 4 days before depulping and an additional eight-day fermentation in stainless steel tanks with water to regulate the temperature. It was then dried in sun bed driers with shade for 2 to 3 weeks.
We're tasting orange blossom, vanilla bean, and lime.
